Kristen Stewart as Bella: I really think Kristen did an awesome job portraying Bella. She was clumsy (lol), and she related to her father and Edward just as she did in the books. I was really interested in her relationship with her father, too – I liked that they brought that into the movie. You can see she gets her personality and quirks from her father, like how they get quiet and awkward and don’t look each other in the eye if they’re embarrassed. I really didn’t see anything wrong with Kristen’s acting at all.

Jacob Black: I think I pictured Jacob differently, but the guy who played him did well. I had to laugh when I saw Bella “flirting” with Jacob to find out about the Cullens – it was subtle but she was definitely putting the charm on.

Robert Pattinson as Edward: Edward is a hard character to play. He has to be an animal (vampire) and a human at the same time. There were a few things that bothered me, but that could be chalked up to directing – some scenes didn’t flow and there were a couple times when a scene seemed awkward for him. And those of us who read the books know there was nothing awkward about Edward.

The Cullen Family: I thought Alice and Rosalie were just like they were in the books! Emmett and Jasper as well (they had pretty small parts in the movie, and Jasper just had a blank stare most of the time but then he was a “new vampire”).

Probably the two things in the movie that bothered me most were the over-pale complexions of the vampires (like they would blend in with the school crowd if they were THAT pale? Forget staying out of sunlight to keep from attracting attention! lol) Plus, it looked very much like cakey makeup. And the “special effects” of Edward running through the trees with Bella on his back reminded me of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, LOL. I also think they could have done the blurred speedy movements of the vampires a little differently – in the book, I saw it more as they were in one place, then another place instantly. Did Bella even see a blur? I’ll have to read the book again. Still, of course I realize they can’t get it all the way I pictured it.

The only other thing I’m a little sad about is that they didn’t include the scene in the book when Bella nearly faints at the sight of blood in science class. That was one of the most memorable parts of the book for me, and I think that it added an interesting twist. The girl who is queasy when it comes to blood falls in love with a vampire… how ironic.

All in all, I thought this was a great movie, and Stephenie Meyer should be proud! I’m definitely buying it when it comes out on DVD, and wish I had had the opportunity to see it again in the theatre.
