This book was good, but not the best of the series. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from this series because it is set in present day (I usually prefer historical period romances) and the titles all seemed a little silly. However, Katie McAlister proved to be a wonderful author. The books are all full of steamy romance and plenty of mystery and suspense. It isnt necessary to start from the beginning since each novel is pretty much a story in itself. The only commonality is that all the books feature ‘dark ones’ who are a particular type of vampire. (different from Anne Rice or the Twilight series vampires)
This book in particular had a little bit too much of the non-romance part of the plot for my taste. I would have preferred to have more pages featuring the sexual tension between the main characters. As it is, it is a good book but not the best of her work.
I haven’t gotten as far as this book yet…but I read the first two in the series and have the other sitting on my shelf. I loved the first one. I really really like Katie Mac’s Aisling Grey series and the Silver Dragon series. If you visit Katie’s website and send a SASE she’ll send you a bunch of goodies like bookmarks and signed book plates. I even have a copy of Aisling and Drake’s wedding invitation its really cute.
