The Defiant Hero (Troubleshooters Book 2) by Suzanne Brockmann

From Publishers Weekly

Against the backdrop of terrorism on U.S. soil, Brockmann (The Unsung Hero) weaves three complex romantic relationshipsAone fondly recalled, one unexpectedly resumed and one bursting at the seams to get startedAinto a tight tale that will leave readers eagerly anticipating the author’s next installment. When terrorists kidnap her grandmother, Eve, and her 10-year-old daughter, Amy, widowed translator Meg takes an Eastern European official hostage to trade for her lost family members. Readers will forgive the plot’s implausibility as Meg hurls herself headlong into her risky rescue attempt in spite of interference by former flame and Navy SEAL Lt. John Nilsson. While heating tension and passion to the boiling point, Brockmann firmly squashes the clich? of military men with hearts of stone and imbues her SEALs with honest emotional courage. In an equally refreshing move, she then stands the romance formula on its head, making the SEALs chase the intelligent, self-confident women who’ve done just fine so far without them. A smart, thrilling keeper among so many disposable stories, this is one to recommend heartily to friends. (Mar. 1)

The Unsung Hero (Troubleshooters Book 1) by Suzanne Brockmann

From Publishers Weekly

Four plot lines are expertly interwoven to create a love story-cum-thriller in the latest work by veteran romance author Brockmann (Bodyguard), winner of two Romantic Times Career Achievement Awards and a two-time RITA finalist. Navy SEAL Lt. Tom Paoletti, on medical leave after a near-fatal head injury, returns to his New England hometown and is drawn into an unresolved relationship with the girl he left behind. Kelly Ashton, now a pediatrician, is caring for her dying father when Tom returns to disrupt–and enrich–her life. Then Tom glimpses a terrorist he once pursued who’s supposed to be dead, but his antagonistic superiors attribute the unlikely sighting to his head injury. Brockmann keeps the tension high, while also revealing the heartbreaking wartime secret shared by Kelly’s father and Tom’s beloved uncle. Another subplot involving Tom’s niece also plays nicely into the dramatic finale as Tom and a makeshift team must take on terrorist bombers unaided. With its shift in focus from romance to the action subplot, this novel would make a terrific movie. (June)

The Darkest Hour by Maya Banks

From Publishers Weekly

In an intriguing mix of military action and sizzling romance, this latest of the KGI series features ex-Navy Seal Ethan Kelly’s fight to reclaim the life and love of his wife Rachel, who had gone missing and had been presumed dead a year earlier. He enlists the members of his family in his struggle, who run a special operations group known as Kelly Group International, or KGI. Ethan’s emotional and physical resources are put to the test rescuing Rachel, who proves to be a tough cookie in her own right, at one point eluding kidnappers by swimming through a lake at night, all while nursing a broken arm. Their battle to reclaim Rachel’s lost memories and solve the problems raised by the reappearance of those memories is engaging and entertaining. While well-paced throughout, its final pages reveal an author in too much of a hurry to bring her tale to a conclusion.

The Time Traveler’s Wife

OK, This one is going to make me cry rivers….How do I know?  I just watched the movie trailers & listened to some of the soundtrack at The Official Movie Site (Click on the image to the left to order the soundtrack)

I haven’t read the book but I think it’s one I’m going to pick up soon.  My only reservation about reading the book is that I want to see the movie and in my experience movies vs books can be very disappointing.  I suppose I’ll just bite the bullet and do both since I’m a sucker for movies that make me look like a swollen eyed, red nosed goof-ball ;-)

Here’s a review of the book posted on Amazon.com

From Booklist
On the surface, Henry and Clare Detamble are a normal couple living in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. Henry works at the Newberry Library and Clare creates abstract paper art, but the cruel reality is that Henry is a prisoner of time. It sweeps him back and forth at its leisure, from the present to the past, with no regard for where he is or what he is doing. It drops him naked and vulnerable into another decade, wearing an age-appropriate face. In fact, it’s not unusual for Henry to run into the other Henry and help him out of a jam. Sound unusual? Imagine Clare Detamble’s astonishment at seeing Henry dropped stark naked into her parents’ meadow when she was only six. Though, of course, until she came of age, Henry was always the perfect gentleman and gave young Clare nothing but his friendship as he dropped in and out of her life. It’s no wonder that the film rights to this hip and urban love story have been acquired. Elsa Gaztambide

Crouching Vampire, Hidden Fang by Katie MacAlister

I just finished reading Crouching Vampire, Hidden Fang the sequel to Zen and the Art of Vampires.

I have been waiting for months to find out what happens between Pia & Kristoff~ the perfect man who doesn’t mind a little extra something on a woman.

There are some twists and turns that aren’t completely expected, although you think you know what’s going to happen and the ending is absolutely predictable but none-the-less heartwarming to read.

Pia Thomason is torn between two Dark Ones and feeling like a fool, considering she doesn’t know either of them is. Alec is not doubt brokenhearted over finding out that Pia was mated to his best friend, Kristoff.  And hubby Kristoff believes she has ties to the group trying to destroy his people.

So Pia goes back to her humdrum Seattle life, determined to forget about Kristoff~ but fate has other plans.  With Alec missing, something truly evil threatening her ghostly charges and the vampire community hunting them for crimes they didn’t commit, Pia realizes that if she and Kristoff are going to be shackled together for better or worse, she may as well start to enjoy it.
